Dan Sartain : It's a lot faster. It's all downstrokes, you know. I wanted to change up what I thought of making an album. There was a certain pretentiousness of the way I made records. Like, I had to have a certain bass, I had to have white bass heads on the drums. Old cymbals have a better sound than the ones that you buy off the shelf. They just do.

And so I threw that pretentiousness out the window and settled for what was available. It's not just a celebration of my good taste in vintage equipment. I'll use new amps and guitars. I'll just use what's available rather than draw it out to get the sound someone had 40 years ago. We use computers to record - two tracks are all computers and I'll give somebody $5 if they can tell me which two they are. It took computers a while to catch up to where tape already was.
