1. Wash your hands with a lanolin-free soap and warm water and towel dry. Use acetone nail polish remover and a fiber-free cosmetic cotton pad to remove oils and debris, which can cause chipping and peeling of nail polish.

2. Gently pull back the cuticle, and really scrub the nail, not just wipe them, with a cleanser.
